Plumbers head to Flint, Michigan
On Saturday, Jan. 30, a team of 300 plumbers from local unions across the nation will converge on Flint, Michigan, to install new plumbing in residents' homes.
Members of Plumbing Manufacturers International (PMI) have donated hundreds of faucets and plumbing supplies for the installation, and the effort is also being organized by the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry (UA).
New faucets and plumbing will be installed along with Brita water filters, leading to the provision of drinkable water for Flint's residents.
The materials were donated by PMI members American Standard Inc., BrassCraft Manufacturing Co., Delta Faucet Co., Fluidmaster Inc., Kohler Co., Moen Inc., and Speakman Co.
They include kitchen sink faucets, kitchen sink supplies and shut off valves.
“PMI is proud to join with its members and the UA to put our vision of safe, responsible plumbing into action,” said Barbara C. Higgens, PMI CEO and executive director. “We appreciate the generosity of our members, the UA plumbers, IAPMO and everyone else that is helping to assure safe drinking water for the residents of the Flint area.”
