Pilot dog helps Lowe’s employee keep working
ALowe’s sales associate named Marty Puckett, who has been steadily losing his sight over the past 10 years due to a hereditary condition, has been able to keep his job thanks to a pilot dog named Audree, according to an article in the Lancaster Eagle Gazette.
Puckett has worked in the plumbing aisle at a Lowe’s store in Lancaster, Ohio, for the past 12 years. As his eyesight worsened, the 35-year-old employee has been able to use a digital magnifier to read fine print. He relies heavily on his sense of touch to identify products.
Audree joined Puckett three years ago to help guide him through the aisles. The black Labrador retriever has her own bowl and space in the employee break room, according to the article.
“He's a great employee," said store manager Dave Taylor. "We are going to do anything we possibly can to help. By no means do we want to lose him."
