Obituary: Shirley Leviton
Shirley Leviton, a former board member of Leviton, Inc., and wife of the late Harold Leviton, a former CEO and chairman of the board, died Jan. 3 at the age of 98.
The company released the following statement from the Leviton family:
"It is with deep sorrow that the Leviton family announces the passing of Shirley Leviton, beloved wife of Harold Leviton, our late CEO, President and Chairman of the Board of Leviton Manufacturing. Mrs. Leviton served as a member of Board of Directors.
"To those many employees and people in the industry who came in contact with her sensed her compassion, elegance and intellect. An accomplished woman, she served numerous local and national organizations; including President of the National Council of Jewish Women, recipient of an Honorary Doctorate from Acadia University, and was also a Board Member of North Shore University Hospital.
"Her greatest loves were her family; daughter's Patricia, Adrienne and Elizabeth, her sons-in-law, Stephen Sokolow, Donald Hendler and Andrew Kriegman, her 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She also showed great love and devotion to the Leviton Company and all of its employees. The family greatly appreciates the sympathies and condolences of the entire organization for their loss; they request no flowers. Any donations in Shirley's memory can be made to a charity of your own choosing."
