Ace Hardware: The co-op serves 4,600 dealer-members.

Alamo Forest Products: Alamo is a subsidiary of Vaughan & Sons. Its data are not included in the Vaughan & Sons entry.

Allied Building Stores: The coop serves 210 dealer-members throughout the Southeast.

Baer Supply: A subsidiary of Germany’s Wurth Group.

Beacon Roofing Supply: In 2007, Beacon acquired Wholesale Roofing Supply of Knoxville, Tenn., and North Coast Commercial Roofing of Twinsburg, Ohio.

Black Millwork: The company also operates a location in Burton-On-Trent, England.

Building Material Distributors: The company acquired Boddington Lumber of Colorado Springs in early 2006.

Capital Lumber: Purchased Humphrey Lumber of Tacoma, Wash., in 2002.

Cedar Creek: Company explained 2006’s 25 percent sales growth as a result of full use of three new distribution centers that opened in 2005.

Do it Best: The co-op serves 4,180 dealer-members.

Empire Wholesale Lumber: Data includes distribution in Canada through warehouses in Ontario and Quebec.

ENAP: The co-op serves 227 dealer-members.

Forest City Trading Group: Forest City operates under the following banners—American IFP, Birmingham IFP, Buckeye Pacific, Cascade Empire, Olympic Industries, Richmond IFP, Seaboard IFP, Tampa IFP, Viking Forest Products, Western IFP (IFP=International Forest Products).

Futter Lumber: Data includes distribution in Canada through a warehouse in British Columbia.

Guardian Building Products: Guardian Enterprises includes sales for the former Cameron Ashley and Builder Marts of America. In 2006 the company closed two DCs and opened two DCs. Sales are an HCN estimate based on conversations with the company. DC count includes 16 Canadian locations.

Hager Group: Company operates three divisions under these banners: T.W. Hager Lumber, Hager Distribution and Hager Wood Preserving.

Louisiana-Pacific: Sales reflect only LP’s two-step distribution business to pro dealers and home centers (90 percent of distribution sales) as well as to home builders (10% of sales), a 100 percent drop-ship model of which 70 percent is self-manufactured. Employee count is for the entire company.

Lumbermen’s Merchandising Corp.: The co-op serves 350 dealer-members.

McEwen Lumber: Locations include headquarters, 15 smaller yards and two big DCs. McEwan is a subsidiary of Hood Industries.

McQuesten: McQuesten is a subsidiary of Hood Industries.

New South: Acquired by Canfor of Vancouver, B.C., in March 2006.

North Pacific Group: North Pacific acquired North Santiam Lumber of Columbus, Ohio, at the end of 2006.

Pacific Coast Supply: Data includes sales from its Pacific Supply division.

Park Ohio Industries: Formerly operated as Arden Fasteners.

Patrick Lumber: The company outsources its logistics and warehousing functions; it operates no DCs directly.

Persinger Supply:Company’s consumer products division was acquired by House-Hasson in 2007.

Philadelphia Reserve Supply: The co-op serves 250 dealer-members.

PrimeSource Building Products: Data includes sales from Itochu Building Products.

Progressive Affiliated Lumbermen: The co-op serves 400 dealer-members.

Shelter Distribution: Shelter Distribution is a subsidiary of Beacon Roofing, but its sales are reported here seperately.

Tri-State Lumber: 2005 sales and employees are an estimate.

True Value: The co-op serves 4,200 dealer-members.

U.S. Lumber Group: Company attributes 30 percent sales growth to increse in accounts served from 2,800 to 4,600.

United Hardware Distributing: The co-op has 525 dealer members and also sells to about 1,000 unaffiliated dealers.

Weekes Forest Products: Also operates under the North Star Forest Materials banner; acquired Logan Lumber of Florida in January 2006.
