NHS looks to Vegas, with an eye on the virus

3/10/2020
The National Hardware Show is preparing to host its annual big show in Las Vegas May 5-7. And organizers say they are not taking the coronavirus lightly.

Reed Exhibitions, the parent company of the National Hardware Show, issued a release Tuesday (March 10) saying that it is continuously monitoring the COVID-19 virus outbreak.

“Our position remains unchanged: the health and safety of our exhibitors, visitors and staff is our number one priority,” reads the statement. “Currently, no federal restrictions are in place to prevent conferences, conventions, trade shows, exhibitions and travel within the United States.”

The statement also referred potential visitors and exhibitors to the Center for Disease Control website.

Meanwhile, the National Hardware Show is on track to celebrate its 75th anniversary. Earlier this year, organizers anticipated attendance of about 25,000 hardware, building supply and other industry professionals.

On March 4, the National Hardware Show Team issued a statement regarding the coronavirus. It included the following:

“The National Hardware Show firmly believes in the importance of an industry gathering place and is committed to hosting the Show as planned May 5-7, 2020 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Please know that the health and safety of exhibitors, attendees, industry partners and staff is, and will always be, our number one priority. We are collaborating closely with the Las Vegas Convention Center and local public health authorities and following local, state and federal public health guidelines, including those issued by the CDC. If their advice and guidelines is updated, we will immediately let you know.”
