New Home Depot DC slated for Mid-Atlantic region

2/20/2018

Home Depot plans to open a warehouse in Winchester, Va., this summer as part of its plan to centralize more of its distribution system, according to an article in the Quad State Business Journal. The 465,600-square-foot leased facility, located in the Fort Collier Industrial Park, will ship to stores in the Washington, D.C.; Baltimore; Philadelphia; and Richmond areas, the news report said. Ultimately, the distribution center will stock products from 100 vendors.

The new warehouse will be the second distribution facility in Frederick County for the Atlanta retailer. Home Depot also operates an import distribution center in Winchester, handling merchandise imported through the Virginia Inland Port in Warren County, according to the article. The 840,000-square-foot “transit facility” opened in 2003.

The region’s third Home Depot warehouse is a former True Value distribution center in Washington County that once handled plumbing supplies and bathroom fixtures for Your Other Warehouse, a division of Home Depot. The facility is now a fulfillment center for homedepot.com.
