New cast iron bathtub offers generous proportions
Drummonds has introduced a new bateau-style cast iron bathtub to the U.S. market -- and it's got generous proportions.
Named after the river Wye, the new bathtub is a longer, wider, deeper version of the Usk,, the manufacturer's most popular bath.
The Wye takes its cues from an 18th century Bateau, or ‘boat’ bathtub, which features high sides to retain heat.
However, Drummonds included some modern updates to the design for comfort and practicality.
Drummonds makes all of its orders by hand, using a unique enameling process that's sprinkled by hand up to five layers thick. The resin patterns are also hand-carved.
Drummonds recently opened a flagship showroom in New York City called Drummonds at Lapicida, which includes vignettes of almost all of Drummonds product offerings.
