National frames a presence in Connecticut
The National Lumber family of companies is making its expansion into East Hartford, Conn. official.
A grand opening celebration is scheduled for June 20, with a VIP evening event for builders and contractors. A board cutting ceremony is also planned to mark the occasion.
Overseen by General Manager Mark Lefsyk, many of the employees have worked at this location under previous owners in the past. Their experience with providing building materials in the area is helping us make a smoother transition into this new location, National Lumber said.
The East Hartford location is operating under the name National Building Products due to another company operating under the name National Lumber in southern Connecticut.
This location has operated as a lumberyard under various companies over the years, most recently under Builders FirstSource who left the property in late 2018. National moved into the East Hartford location this past winter.
In addition to an array of improvements to the full‐service lumberyard, with expanded product offerings in both the lumberyard and hardware store, the renovated East Hartford location also contains a Kitchen Views design showroom. The delivery fleet provides prompt, precise deliveries with boom trucks, flatbeds with mounted forklifts, and box trucks, according to National.
This 85‐year‐old family business, owned and operated by the third generation of the Kaitz family, began expanding into Connecticut in 2015 with the acquisition of Oxford Paint & Hardware in the southern part of the state. Renamed to Oxford Lumber and Building Materials, the location was renovated and includes a Kitchen Views design showroom.
The company’s manufacturing division, Reliable Truss and Components based in New Bedford, Mass., expanded into Branford, Conn. last year to better serve builders in the region. When the property in East Hartford became available National said it was the perfect opportunity to further expand their retail presence and services in Connecticut.
Based in Mansfield, Mass., National operates 9 retail lumberyards in New England, with 7 Kitchen View showrooms, and 12 Benjamin Moore paint stores. The National Lumber Family of Companies also includes National Millwork, with a distribution facility and state‐of‐the‐art custom millwork shop in Mansfield, Mass.
