NADRA, MoistureShield say 'Check Your Deck'
May is NADRA’s Deck Safety Month and industry experts from MoistureShield and the North American Decking and Railing Association are recommending that homeowners “Check Your Deck” before big time spring activities.
NADRA estimates that nearly 25 million decks in the United States need repair or replacement. NADRA and composite decking brand MoistureShield are encouraging homeowners to examine their decks for sagging, racking, or unsecured boards that may indicate loose fasteners or deck instability.
Additionally, checking the gap for widening between the ledger and joist may offer evidence of loose bolts.
“As homeowners enjoy the benefits and splinter-free comfort of their composite decks, we want to encourage them to check for any damage or deterioration from the winter months--before the outdoor season gets into full swing,” said Joey Peters, senior brand manager-composites, MoistureShield.
