Model home not ready for IBS visitors

2/20/2018

The New American Home 2010 (TNAH) was expected to offer an ambitious slate of features to wow attendees of the International Builders’ Show in Las Vegas Jan. 19 to 22. It was planned in accordance with the National Association of Home Builders' Green Building Standard, as well as the Department of Energy's Energy Star efficiency program.

But the house is not ready.

"As a result of tight credit and a soft market for high-end homes in Las Vegas, The New American Home 2010 will not be completed in time for tours during the International Builders’ Show (IBS)," read an announcement on the IBS Web site. It's the first time in the history of the 27-year model-home program that the house will not be completed on time.

In lieu of the home tour, the NAHB has arranged for a special virtual tour and exhibit of products and innovations that went into the home, which is roughly 75% complete, according to the IBS.
