Miracle-Gro parades with Ty Pennington
Miracle-Gro is entering its fourth year as the official “Rose & Flower Care Company” of the Rose Parade, and it’s bringing Ty Pennington along for the ride.
TV personality and handyman Pennington will serve as spokesperson for the second year in a row and ride the Miracle-Gro float. This year’s Rose Parade float will be officially certified “CA Grown” by the state of California and the California Cut Flower Commission at a ceremony on Dec. 31 with the Secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture, Karen Ross.
Miracle-Gro is the first major consumer brand to have its float certified “CA Grown.” That means a minimum of 85% of the flowers and greens on the float must be harvested from California growers. Miracle-Gro says it passed with 100% of the flowers on the float.
Four California gardeners, including Pennington and two California farmers will participate as “Miracle-Groers.” Each Miracle-Groer will contribute flowers from their personal gardens to be adorned on the 2016 float. That move, according to Miracle-Gro, gives the company the distinction as the first major brand to use flowers from the personal gardens of consumers for a Rose Parade float.
