Mid-Cape Home Centers hosts legislative yard tour
Mid-Cape Home Centers recently hosted Massachusetts State Rep. Timothy Whelan for a meeting and tour of its location South Dennis, Mass.
Whelan represents the 1st Barnstable District and visited with the estimating department, custom millwork shop, and lumber yard. The Representative also met with company leaders including Jack Stevenson, president of Mid-Cape Home Centers, to discuss the needs of small businesses in the area.
“We really enjoyed Rep. Whelan's visit. Due to his background as a (State) Trooper, he really understands a lot of the issues that affect our business,” Stevenson said. “One of the biggest industry issues is transportation, and Tim has a great understanding of that area, DOT regulation, along with traffic and the bridges. We were happy to hear his insight on those issues. Plus, his genuine passion for the Cape is obvious.”
Whelan also shared insights into a legislative push for local vocational education, the need to rely on local businesses to help keep local youth living and working in our community, and affordable housing.
During the tour, Whelan noted that he personally shops at Mid-Cape in an effort to keep money in the local economy rather than with national big box retailers.
Mid-Cape Home Centers hosted the Representative as part of the Northeastern Retail Lumber Association’s Legislative Yard Tour initiative, which connects lumberyards throughout the Northeast with their elected officials in order to share the needs of local businesses.
Mid-Cape Home Centers provides building materials to professional builders and homeowners involved in new construction and home improvement on Cape Cod, the Islands, and the South Shore in Massachusetts.
