MicroPro celebrates an anniversary
According to Koppers Perfomance Cheimcals, treated wood products using micronized copper preservatives represent the majority of treated wood sold into residential and agricultural markets in the United States.
That wasn’t always the case. MicroPro Micronized Copper technology hit the commercial market 10 years ago.
One way the company is celebrating the anniversary is by promoting the products’ utility in the building industry. It’s a an American Wood Protection Association standardized wood preservative, said Gary Converse, senior VP of Koppers. More than that it meets major model building code requirements of the International Code Council. And wood products treated with the MicroPro wood preservative can be used in above ground, ground contact and critical ground contact end-use applications, he said.
The MicroPro treated wood process collection of third-party certifications include the Scientific Certification Systems’ Environmentally Preferable Product Certification, Underwriters Laboratories Greenguard Gold Certification, and the Home Innovation NGBS Green Certification.
Since its commercial introduction in 2007, more than 20 billion board feet have been treated with the micronized copper preservative, the company said.
