MI Windows and Doors faces class action suit
A class action suit being leveled against MI Windows and Doors is moving ahead.
The United States District Court for the District of South Carolina has approved a notification system to alert customers of the suit, which involves tape glazed windows manufactured by MIWD between July 1, 2000 and March 31, 2010. This includes windows with the MI Windows and Doors, General Aluminum, Capitol, BetterBilt, Bridgewood, PrimeCel, Insight, BrynMawr II, Devon II, HomeMaker, New Bridge II, New Castle III or New Castle XT brands.
Allegedly, the windows are defective and may have resulted in damage to the plaintiffs' property due to their propensity to leak. MI Windows and Doors has denied these allegations, and though the Court has not decided in favor of one party or the other, they have agreed to settle and resolve the litigation.
Notices to potential class members will be mailed out and advertised nationally.
A hearing is scheduled for June 30, 2015, during which the Court will decide whether to grant final approval to the settlement.
