Menards contest fuels the DIY spirit
Eau Claire, Wis.-based Menards is offering prizes to home owners whose home improvement efforts captured in photos are selected as Project of the Month. The move reflects a growing interest and sophistication among home improvement retailers to connect with customers through digital media.
The company describes its My Project Gallery page as a place for homeowners to maintain a record of their home projects, as well as get inspiration for their next project. “You’ve worked hard on your project, and we want to see your results!” reads the text of the Menards My Project Gallery page. If a project gets featured, the reward is a $100 Menards gift card.
The current Project of the Month on the Menards site features the application of Bristol Canyon castle stone veneer to columns on a front porch. Currently, the site contains photos and descriptions from about 20 home owners. "Our goal is to celebrate the great and positive things that our guests do with products from Menards," said a spokeswoman. "It is an effort to recognize those efforts and help spread inspiration."
The new feature on the web site carries the tagline: “Get inspired. Find products. Show off your work.”
