Meet the Independent ProDealer of the Year
HBSDealer, the building products and home improvement retailing magazine of EnsembleIQ, selected Trinidad, Colo.-based BLDRS Supply & Home Center as the 2019 ‘Independent ProDealer of the Year.’
The annual award, chosen by editors of HBSDealer in concert with the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association, is designed to recognize a high-performance company with a commitment to best practices and the best values of the lumber and building material industry.
“We are humbled and grateful to receive this recognition,” said Karen Sandbeck, president of the Trinidad, Colo., company, which has served its community on the historic Santa Fe Trail for three generations of continuous family ownership. Karen and her husband Cal Sandbeck acquired the business in 2017 from Karen’s brother, Scott Sandlin, who continues to serve as general manager.
“We owe so much to so many incredible people,” Karen added. “Our employees take great pride in their work, and we are proud to be surrounded by such an amazing team of professionals.”
Friendly service and product knowledge are hallmarks of the multi-faceted home center, which brings solutions to contractors as well as home owners. And company’s exceptional community involvement reflects the priorities of the family ownership.
“There’s a real sense of community pride at BLDRS Supply,” said Dena Cordova-Jack, of the Mountain States Lumber & Building Material Dealers Association. “They operate in a small, historic town; they’re investing in their community; and they have figured out how to make it work.”
Double digit sales gains are part of the story at BLDRS Supply & Home Center. And the business is growing as it is preparing for the future -- a dramatic renovation of the dealer’s facility is currently underway, with some of the work documented on social media.
BLDRS Supply & Home Center will accept the “Independent ProDealer of the Year” award during the 2019 ProDealer Industry Summit, sponsored by the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association and HBSDealer. The event is slated for The Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs, Colo., Oct. 8-10.
