McCoy's and Home Lumber honored
San Marcos, Texas-based McCoy's Building Supply and Bishop, Calif.-based Home Lumber will be recognized by Home Channel News as 2009 Pro Dealers of the Year during the ProDealer Industry Summit Oct. 7 to 9 in Phoenix.
Operating 84 units in four states, McCoy's Building Supply is the largest pro dealer on the 2009 HCN Top 500 Scoreboard to show an increase in sales -- the company's 2008 revenue increased 7.4% to $608 million. McCoy's recently unveiled a new headquarters in San Marcos, a move that reflects long-term confidence in the industry.
Bishop, Calif.-based Home Lumber represents a case of a business that was sold, nearly closed for good, then brought back from extinction by former management. Principals Brent Johnson and Randy Smith have learned to operate effectively in a strong, second-home custom-building market. The single-unit dealer will receive the Independent Pro Dealer of the Year award.
Jointly sponsored by the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA) and Home Channel News, the ProDealer Industry Summit will be held Oct. 7 to 9 at the Arizona Biltmore. Political analyst Pat Buchanan will deliver the keynote address, and other featured speakers include Yelena Takhtamanova, a Federal Reserve economist; Michelle Desiderio, director of the Green Building Programs for the NAHB Research Center; and Stan Smith, a Gen Y expert from Deloitte Consulting.
