Matthew Thornton elected to Sherwin-Williams board

The board of directors at the Sherwin-Williams Company elected Matthew Thornton III as its newest member.

Effective July 16, Thornton will join the board as its tenth director, as well as a member of its audit committee.

"Matt is a proven business leader and brings more than 35 years of broad management and operations experience at Federal Express to the Board. He will add a valuable perspective to the board, and we look forward to his contributions and guidance to Sherwin-Williams and our shareholders for many years to come."

Thornton is currently SVP U.S. operations at FedEx Express, where he's been working since 1978. He has held various management positions with the company since joining as a package handler.
