Masco sales rise 3% for Q3

2/20/2018

Masco, the home improvement products manufacturing giant, reported net sales of $1.9 billion for 3Q 2017 — a 3% increase from net sales of $1.8 billion in 3Q 2016.

The company’s net income for the quarter increased to $158 million, from earnings of $135 million in the third quarter 2016.

“We are pleased with our performance and the progress we made towards our growth initiatives during the quarter, especially in light of the impact from the severe hurricanes experienced in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico,” said Masco president and CEO Keith Allman. “Growth was once again led by our plumbing products and decorative architectural products segments, and we continued to invest in our strong plumbing brands and our pro paint initiative.”

Plumbing products’ net sales increased 6%, driven by North American and international growth. Meanwhile, net sales increased 3% in Masco’s decorative architectural products segment, fueled by Behr’s pro initiative and Liberty’s builders’ hardware business, the company reported.

Cabinetry products’ net sales decreased 4% while sales in the windows and specialty products were flat due to the divestiture of Arrow Fastener. Excluding the impact of this divestiture, net sales increased 9%, driven by strong sales of windows in North America.

Based in Livonia, Mich., Masco’s portfolio includes Behr paints, Delta faucets, Kraftmaid and Merillat cabinets, and Millgard windows and doors, among other brands.
