Marketing Magic: A world record measured in paint cans
PPG Comex, together with its more than 750 dealers of Comex paints and coatings, recently nabbed a world record.
The dealers collaborated in Acapulco, Mexico, to win the Guinness World Record title for largest mosaic created with paint cans.
The mosaic was made up of 4,900 cans of Comex paint, which will be donated to help beautify spaces throughout Mexico, such as schools, hospitals, and other sites in the communities where their stores operate.
"It gives us great pride to achieve this distinction, with this impressive mural of color that reflects the commitment of each of the dealers and collaborators integrated with the Comex brand,” said Gilberto Alcaráz, director of the social impact program "Comex por un México Bien Hecho" (“Comex for a Well Done Mexico”). “Through our more than 4,200 stores, we strive to protect and beautify the lives of people, and we continue to strengthen our position as one of the largest retail chains in Mexico and the first in the paints category."
The mosaic was created during the annual business session for the Comex brand, which took place in Acapulco, Guerrero, using 4,900 cans of Vinimex TOTAL paint in eight colors, with an area of about 538 square feet (50 square meters).
Plastic and visual artist Triana Parera created the design concept, along with graphic designer and illustrator Jimena Montemayor, who is known in Mexico as JIMO.
