Lumber Liquidators pitches in for mitochondrial disease
Lumber Liquidators has embraced The United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation's Energy For Life Walkathon series, a campaign aimed at raising awareness of the disorder.
The retailer will be sustaining its sponsorship of the Foundation, a partnership it began in 2013 as part of its philanthropic program, Lay it Forward. It has donated tens of thousands of dollars toward the effort since.
"Lumber Liquidators' sponsorship of The United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation reflects our dedication to creating lasting improvements in our communities, in people's health and in our homes," said Robert Lynch, president and CEO of Lumber Liquidators. "We appreciate their laser focused dedication to providing support for the victims of this disease, and hopefully someday soon, finding a cure for it."
The Foundation works to promote the diagnosis, treatment and cure of mitochondrial disease, which causes strokes, seizures and gastro-intestinal problems for thousands of children each year.
"So many families are impacted by mitochondrial disease each year, yet so few people are aware of its debilitating effects," said Charles A. Mohan, Jr., executive director and CEO of The United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation. "With the support of Lumber Liquidators, we're able to help create awareness among communities around the nation and collect funds for the medical community to learn more about these conditions and improve patients' lives."
