Lumber helping Lumber
The West Coast Lumber & Building Material Association is once again dealing with a natural disaster that is raging across California – and bringing losses to many who are connected to the LBM industry.
The association announced a program to help bring relief to people known to be in need, as determined by the organization’s network of members and suppliers. More than $6,000 was raised in the first 48 hours of the program. According to the WCLBMA, at least 60 individuals and families in the LBM industry suffered a loss of home or other major loss from the wildfires.
The WCLBMA released the following message Nov. 14:
The loss of a home to a fire is one of the most horrible life-altering events that can happen to a person or family. As we have seen in the past several years with the massive fires, the rebuilding of homes, business and lives is a long and emotional process.
Again this year we are aware of individuals and families associated with the lumber & building materials industry who have had catastrophic losses in these latest fires in California.
The West Coast Lumber & Building Material Association is determined to assist where it can. The WCLBMA has formed a short-term pass-through process to get direct financial aid to those with immediate needs.
Food, temporary housing, basic necessities of life - anything to take some pressure off in this time of need. That's what the funds will be used for.
We're keeping it simple. We're working with the management of our lumber and building materials members to determine which of their employees need extra help now.
The various public and private relief agencies are doing great things in providing what they do to help people rebuild their lives. Also, the various lumber and building materials companies are working on their own to assist their employees. But a little extra is needed for many of those who suffered losses. That's why WCLMBA is helping coordinate this effort.
If you as an individual or as a company want to help, please send a credit card payment or check payable to WCLBMA and mark on it "LUMBER HELPING LUMBER."
