Lowe’s pulls ad from Muslim reality show, faces backlash

2/20/2018

Lowe's has decided to end its advertising campaign on the TLC show "All-American Muslim" after protests from Florida Family Association, a conservative Christian group, which posted this statement to its website:

“TLC’s ‘All-American Muslim’ is propaganda that riskily hides the Islamic agenda’s clear and present danger to American liberties and traditional values.”

Lowe’s decision has garnered a significant amount of backlash. Since posting a statement to its Facebook page, the home improvement giant has received more than 10,000 comments. Some users have shown their support (“I am so glad that Lowe's pulled their ads! I support you Lowes!”), while others are standing in strong opposition (“Your caving in to arrant bigotry is shameful and inexcusable.”)

Sen. Ted Lieu (D-Torrance) has condemned the company’s decision and sent a letter to CEO Robert Niblock, calling for an apology:

“Lowe’s action is bigoted, shameful, and un-American. I call on Lowe’s to rescind its action and apologize to Americans who are Muslim. If Lowe’s continues its religious bigotry, I will encourage boycotts of Lowe’s and look into legislative remedies.”
