Lowe’s pro loader has more than one message
Bob Lieb, a pro loader in the ProServices department of Lowe’s, shares pearls of wisdom on regular basis with customers and fellow associates.
Retired and out of projects to complete at home, Lieb’s wife suggested that he find a new job. He joined Lowe’s as a part-time employee and worked his way up to full-time.
Not long after arriving at the Pearland store in 2015, Lieb began sharing a daily message on a large white board in front of the lumber department, according to Lowe’s. Lieb says the idea for the board was given to him by his daughter, Laurie Quillen.
“It was her idea, to give people a positive outlook,” he says. “We started getting comments on them and that encouraged me to dig into it deeper. We had people come in the door, stop and read it, pull out their phone and take a picture of it. I said ‘Hey, this is great! We are affecting somebody’s life’.”
Lieb’s daughter and granddaughter are also Lowe’s associates in Pearland.
Mike Weeks, the owner of a construction company in the region, said Lieb’s messages are well worth passing along to others.
“They are all just interesting,” Weeks said. “They all have something positive to say and I read these, take them back to the office and sometimes I post them on Facebook. I share them with others all the time. I share them with my employees because it brings a good, heartfelt feeling to your surroundings.”
For some Pearland pro customers, seeking out and reading Lieb’s daily message is the first thing on their agenda.
“If we can just put a smile on somebody’s face, just for five seconds, that person is already having a better day,” Bob said. “And if you have a good attitude, it is going to rub off on them. Just stop and think: if the world would try to improve their attitude, how much better of a place would this be?”
Lieb is also a U.S. Armed Forces veteran and wears a special associate vest Lowe's created for employees who have served.
