Lowe's partners with Icontrol Networks
Lowe's is brandishing its smart home muscle in the new year with the introduction of its latest partnership with Icontrol Networks.
Coming soon, various Lowe's Iris smart home devices will be certified through Icontrol's OpenHome Developer Program, making them compatible with Icontrol-powered products.
The OpenHome brand will serve as a signal of sorts, helping customers easily pick out compatible products. Additionally, in-aisle electronic displays will help customers determine OpenHome device compatibility, service provider information and more.
"Lowe's is committed to providing customers with truly open smart home platforms," said Jay Rebello, VP new business development and corporate innovation for Lowe's. "Icontrol helps expand the number of easy-to-install, compatible products available to consumers, allowing users to easily find smart home solutions that fit their lifestyles and make their lives easier."
OpenHome was originally launched in 2013 with the aim to increase compatibility among devices. To date, there are more than 100 devices and applications certified under the program, including Nest, Philips Hue, LG Smart Bulbs, the Logitech Harmony Remote and more.
"Whether people are shopping online or in-stores, they can be assured that OpenHome products offer easy set-up and the compatibility needed to build customized smart homes," said Bob Hagerty, CEO of Icontrol Networks. "By offering consumers access to these items through the convenience and ease of Lowe's stores nationwide, together we're making the vision of the smart home a reality."
