Lowe’s opening in former Kmart site
Mooresville, N.C.-based Lowe’s plans to open a store in Overland Park, Kan.
The new store will have more than 120,000-square-feet of retail space with an adjacent garden center of nearly 32,000 square feet. The 30-acre site on which the new store is built previously included a Kmart store, and other buildings, according to an article in the Kansas City Star.
The store will celebrate a grand opening celebration Aug. 23.
At the end of its first quarter, Lowe’s operated a total of 2,154 stores, a figure that marked an increase of just 2 stores from the previous quarter. Lowe’s will report its second quarter earnings Aug. 22.
