Lowe’s lends many hands in Florida

10/16/2018
Lowe’s continues to give back in areas devastated by Hurricane Michael.

This past weekend, Lowe’s parking lots in Florida hosted 4 community relief events for residents impacted by the storm. Additional events are scheduled to take place in the coming days, the Mooresville, N.C. home improvement retailer announced.

Lowe’s employees and volunteers gave out hot meals and more than 3,500 gift cards along with Lowe’s blue buckets with needed supplies.

As part of the company’s response to the storm, Lowe’s mobilized more than 100 associates on Employee Relief Teams. This includes specially trained employees who are volunteers and travel to areas impacted by devastation. The program gives local associates affected by the storm time to be with their families, Lowe’s said.

Although Lowe’s location in Panama City suffered extensive damage from the storm, tents were set up with products staged in the parking lot.

Last week, Lowe’s announced it would give another $2 million in disaster relief support to associates, customers, and communities impacted by Hurricane Michael’s devastation in the Gulf Coast states. The increase brings the company’s 2018 hurricane aid to $4 million.
