Lowe’s fires early shot in holiday sales race

Mooresville, N.C.-based Lowe’s is already off and running on holiday-shopping promotions. The company announced today that seasonal savings are available in key categories and daily deals will be rolling out throughout the month of November.

The home center giant packaged the announcement as an antidote to holiday shopping stress.

"Navigating last-minute deals can be a daunting task, so we are thrilled to be able to deliver early savings that give customers extra time to plan, shop and save," said Jocelyn Wong, chief marketing officer at Lowe's. "We hope that by providing our customers with excellent opportunities to save from November 1 onward, they'll feel more prepared for holiday gatherings and special time with friends and family ahead."

According to data from GPShopper, which tracks consumer behavior, 81% of Americans feel stress around the holiday shopping season, with 45% marking Black Friday as the most stressful time to shop.

Deals on appliances, tools and décor are available now, with savings extending through Black Friday with additional offers through the end of the year. Specific deals include:  Up to 40% off Select Appliances (Nov. 1-Nov. 29) and up to $50 Lowe's Gift Card via rebate with purchase of select Artificial Trees (Nov. 1-7).

Meanwhile, as the retailers consider dates to begin holiday sales, they also weigh the decision to close on Thanksgiving.  enter the sales picture, Thanksgiving Day closings are also a retail consideration. Tractor Supply, for instance, recently announced its plan to remain closed on Thanksgiving Day.
