Lowe’s Canada continues Habitat support
Lowe's Canada, including its administrative centers and stores, donated nearly 1 million Canadian dollars (US$788,150) worth in products and building materials to Habitat for Humanity ReStores. Additionally, more than 100 Lowe’s Canada employees helped build homes on the organization's construction sites.
Since 1985, Habitat for Humanity Canada has been building decent and affordable homes that provide families with a solid foundation for better, healthier lives in Canada. Habitat for Humanity Canada supports Habitat ReStores, which are home and building supply stores that accept and resell quality new and used building materials, as well as furniture, appliances, and home accessories to the public to fund Habitat for Humanity projects.
"At Lowe's Canada, our mission is to help people love where they live," said Jean-Sebastien Lamoureux, senior VP of communications, public affairs, and compliance at Lowe's Canada. "It was only natural for us to support an organization that helps provide homes for hundreds of Canadians every year."
Projects that Lowe’s Canada employees volunteered for included Habitat for Humanity's 34th Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Project to build 150 homes across Canada in celebration of the 150th anniversary of confederation.
"One of the values we stand for as an organization is making a difference in someone's life every day. Our employees are committed to making a real difference in their communities, and we are happy to give them the opportunity to get involved through a variety of corporate initiatives," Lamoureux added.
Over the last 10 years, Lowe's Canada has donated over C$2 million (US$1.6 million) in products to Habitat for Humanity Canada and intends to continue its partnership with this life-changing organization.
"We are fortunate to have the generous support of Lowe's Canada," said Mark Rodgers, President and CEO of Habitat for Humanity Canada. "We build homes thanks to a community of individuals and donors who know that the foundations of a Habitat home helps build better lives. It is thanks to the generosity of our partners that we can continue to make a real difference in the lives of hundreds of Canadians every year."
Based in Boucherville, Quebec, Lowe’s Canada operates or services more than 630 stores in Canada under the Lowe's, RONA, Réno-Dépôt, Dick's Lumber, Contractor First and Ace banners.
