LMC annual meeting reveals record year
At its recent annual meeting, LBM buying group LMC announced it had a record year in 2017 and reached $4.3 billion in sales.
“I think LMC has definitely created the community they’re after,” said Seth Donnohue, of Consolidated Lumber Company. “We do want to band together. We’ve all got our own businesses to run, but we’ve got an incredible amount in common that clearly is adding up.”
Held from March 21 to 23 at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Fla., the event featured more than 90 new products from more than 70 suppliers.
“It is so great to take the time to reconnect with one another at the annual show,” said Kyra Bishop, chairman of the board for LMC. “Getting to meet with the suppliers and our LMC team is something I look forward to each year.”
Taking home the top prize, as voted by the annual attendees, was the Endurathane Faux Wood Beams from Ekena Millwork.
“We’re super excited to win, it was unexpected,” said Daniel Milkie, operations director for Ekena Millwork. “It’s a brand new product, it’s only been out for a couple months, with the breadth of offerings and how many choices we just wanted to get the exposure and let every LMC dealer know about it.”
The show floor featured a number of special exhibits including a new products area, ModernView Exhibit, Capital Equipment Showcase and a brand new Kitchen & Bath Showcase.
This event also hosted three National Kitchen & Bath Association accredited courses, a Marketing Idea Exchange where marketers from dealer companies gathered for an intensive session featuring two round tables, along with a digital marketing course.
“As the industry is in a pretty big time of change and consolidation, it’s good and reassuring for us to see that we can continue to grow together,” Donnahue said. “I feel strongly that we’re going to be positioned well today and in the future for what is coming.”
