Leadership changes at Deere & Company

Deere & Company reported that it has realigned responsibilities for members of its leadership team in response to the retirement of Jean Gilles.

Gilles has elected to retire after 38 years of service, effective Jan. 11, the Moline, Ill.-based company said. Gilles is senior vice president of power systems, worldwide parts services, advanced technology and engineering, and global supply management and logistics.

"Jean had nearly four decades of accomplishments with Deere that was capped off by his leadership of the John Deere Power Systems group through the lengthy journey of meeting tighter engine emissions standards while also developing a broader, more powerful, and more efficient line of engines," said Samuel Allen, chairman and CEO.

Jim Field, president of the Construction & Forestry division, will assume additional responsibility for the John Deere Power Systems organization.

Marc Howze, senior vice president and chief administrative officer, will assume additional responsibility for global supply management and logistics, worldwide parts services, and aviation.

Mary Jones, senior vice president and general counsel, will assume responsibility for worldwide public affairs.

Mark von Pentz, a president of Deere's Worldwide Agriculture & Turf Division will assume additional responsibility for advanced technology and engineering.

Max Guinn retired as president of Deere’s Worldwide Construction & Forestry Division last month after 38 years at the company and was replaced by James Field, in addition to other executive changes made by the manufacturer.
