LBM Advantage honors a founder

2/13/2019
LBM Advantage recently held a dedication ceremony to name their New Windsor, N.Y. office board room in memory of Henry G. Page, Jr.

Page was an owner of H.G. Page & Sons in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., a community leader, mentor and friend to many in the LBM industry, LBM Advantage said. Page was also one of the six founding members of ENAP, Inc. – one of the buying groups that predeceeded the formation of LBM Advantage.

Founded in 1967, the founders of ENAP knew they were “stronger together,” according to LBM Advantage.

Page served on ENAP’s board of directors, including terms as chairman, through the LBM cooperative’s transition to LBM Advantage and until his passing in February 2018.

LBM Advantage President Steve Sallah conducted the dedication of the board room, naming it the Henry G. Page, Jr. Board Room.

Attending the ceremony was Stan Ingalls of GNH Lumber in Greenville, N.Y., son of Buddy Ingalls, a fellow founding member of ENAP, Inc. Also in attendance were several past and present directors, chairmen, members, and LBM Advantage staff.

Karen Page, LBM Advantage President & CEO Steve Sallah, Advantage Chairman John Callahan, Kevin Page, Henry G. Page III, and Jane Sullivan.

Henry G. Page III, Karen Page and Kevin Page accepted a plaque to commemorate the event. The Page family continues to operate H.G. Page & Sons.

Sam Collins, president of S.W. Collins in Caribou, Maine, a longtime director, and former chairman, honored Page via teleconference with anecdotes and stories of their time together on the board of directors.

“As our cooperative continues to grow, Advantage recognizes the importance of the legacy its previous leadership has left behind. The Henry G. Page Jr. Board Room serves as that reminder,” LBM Advantage said.

LBM Advantage is a member-owned forest products and building materials cooperative comprised of independent LBM retailers. The co-op operates from four locations in New Windsor, N.Y., Grand Rapids, Mich., Smithfield, N.C., and Monroe, La., while providing regional expertise.
