The last Banbury brother retires from Mansfield Plumbing
Long-time Mansfield Plumbing employee Lowell Banbury has retired after 45 years of service, marking the end of the Banbury brother legacy with the company.
Lowell's brothers Kenny and Eddie both left a few years back after serving 36 years and 25 years, respectively, totaling more than 100 years of collective service.
"When I started at Mansfield in 1971 it was hard to get a job with the company," said Banbury. "There was a waiting list of people who wanted to work at Mansfield. I was lucky to come at a time when they were expanding and got my foot in the door. After that, my brothers followed me into Mansfield."
Banbury's career at Mansfield had him working in clean-up, serving in the Spray department and casting toilets by hand with single molds. As automation advancements were made he moved into different positions at the Perrysville, Ohio, facility. For the past 22 years, he served as a caster in the Bench & Battery department.
"Mansfield offers steady work with good people," says Banbury. "I'm proud that my son and daughter worked at the company as summer help when they were younger. A manufacturing facility provides a good work ethic and strong values to people."
Banbury intends to spend his free time helping with a family farm, spending time with his grandchildren, hunting, and gardening.
"After 45 years on the plant floor at Mansfield, I'm looking forward to a more relaxed schedule and spending time with my family," said Banbury. "With more than 100 years of combined service among us, I think you can say that the Banbury brothers have truly left a positive mark on Mansfield Plumbing."
