IKEA gets ready for Sektion kitchen system
IKEA is preparing to launch Sektion, a new kitchen system that will replace the existing Akurum system with a more modular design and more efficient use of interior space, the company said.
Beginning Feb. 2, 2015, IKEA customers in the U.S. will be able to purchase Sektion solutions for their homes. Until then, they'll still be able to plan and purchase the Akurum system.
The Akurum cabinets were rated as "Highest in Customer Satisfaction" in the J.D. Power 2014 U.S. Kitchen Cabinet Satisfaction Study. About 7.7 million Akurum cabinets have been sold since they were introduced in 1995.
The Sektion system will boast a comparable price to Akurum; it will also come with an option for integrated lighting.
