Hurricane Sandy relief: Benjamin Moore joins in
Benjamin Moore volunteers gave away several thousand 5-gallon buckets of emergency cleaning supplies to victims of Hurricane Sandy on Nov. 15 in Brooklyn. And on Nov. 29, they’ll move on to a new neighborhood -- Union Beach in New Jersey -- and do it all over again.
The Brooklyn giveaway was a joint effort with local retailer Jack Loconsolo & Co. Paint & Decorating Center. The “Giving Moore” team fanned out among the affected homes, going door-to-door to meet residents. George Oliphant, the building contractor who stars on NBC-TV’s “George to the Rescue,” also assisted. Benjamin Moore was originally founded in Brooklyn in 1883.
Another truckload of buckets and busload of “Giving Moore” volunteers are headed to Union Beach, one of New Jersey’s hardest hit communities, on Thursday, Nov. 29. All told, more than 5,000 of the cleanup kits will be distributed.
