House-Hasson declares growth
Knoxville, Tenn.-based House-Hasson Hardware reported numbers from its January event, which the hardware distributor described as “record-breaking.”
January’s market, held at Nashville’s Opryland Hotel, saw exhibit space increase from 50,000 square feet in 2019 to 60,000 square feet for the 2020 January market, said Don Hasson, company president. Sales were up some 25% over the Jan. 2019 market; direct sales increased about 35%, stock sales just over 20%. Pallet space increased from 15,000 square feet last year to 18,000 square feet in January.
“January’s was the best market in our 114-year history,” said President Don Hasson.
Of the 550 vendors displaying at the market, 23 were at the event for the first time. Among new vendors were Armstrong Ceilings (ceiling tiles), UC Colorado (CBD oil), VP Racing Fuels (auto fuels and additives), and Seaboard Asphalt Products (paving items).
The event followed a full year 2019 in which the company generated $250 million in sales, a 14% increase over 2018. The distributor says it serves some 2,500 dealers in 23 states and the Caribbean.
In addition to buying and selling, the January market included education. One highlight was a presentation by Paul McNally, a marketing specialist with the Distribution America, on social media and print marketing programs.
House-Hasson’s next dealer market is scheduled for June 18-20 at the Sevierville Events Center, Sevierville, Tenn., near the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
