Honeywell's Solstice Liquid Blowing Agent receives high marks

2/20/2018

Honeywell's Solstice Liquid Blowing Agent, developed by West Development Group, received a high hail-resistance rating from FM Global, a business insurer.

According to the company, the blowing agent may reduce insurance premiums for building owners. It met the qualifications of FM Approvals' hail resistance test, which reviews the roof covering's ability to resist cracking, puncturing or tearing in a hail storm, as well as wind-uplift, flammability, leaks, foot traffic and corrosion.

"FM Approvals' testing and rating demonstrates that spray foam roofing formulated with Honeywell's Solstice Liquid Blowing Agent is the superior choice for roofing in areas subject to damaging hail storms such as the Midwest and southwest U.S.," said Dick West, president of West Development Group. "We believe spray foam roofing formulated using Solstice Liquid Blowing Agent represents a step change compared with other spray foam roofing systems, which may not withstand the most severe hail storms."

Non-VOC, non-flammable and EPA-approved, Solstice LBA features a global warming potential of 1, which the company says is significantly lower than hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) blowing agents.
