Home Depot tests moving van rentals
Home Depot is running a pilot program with Penske Truck Rental in Richmond, Va., to explore the possibility of renting moving vans.
Representatives from both companies confirmed they were in the preliminary stages of a four-store test, which offers Home Depot customers a one-stop solution to their relocation needs: boxes, packing materials and moving vans.
Under the test program, which is approximately three weeks old, Penske offers 12-to-26 ft. long moving trucks to both consumer and commercial customers in Home Depot stores in the Richmond market.
Home Depot already offers hourly flatbed truck rentals in many of its locations, but these are generally smaller vehicles meant to haul building materials or landscaping supplies over short distances.
