Home Depot recognizes Shaw for environmental efforts
Shaw Industries has been recognized by The Home Depot as its 2018 Environmental Partner of the Year.
The Home Depot selected Shaw for its industry-leading efforts to reduce the chemicals of concern in flooring products and increase recycled content. In 2017, Shaw used more than 3.5 billion plastic bottles in the manufacturing of its carpet.
“The spaces where we live, work, play, learn and heal have a huge impact on our lives,” explains Susan Farris, vice president of sustainability and corporate communications at Shaw Industries. “That's why we're committed to using safe ingredients and designing sustainable products.”
Almost 90% of the products Shaw manufactures are Cradle to Cradle CertifiedTM, a multi-attribute designation for sustainable product design. This includes all polyester and nylon carpet and solid and engineered hardwood flooring sold at The Home Depot.
“We rely on partners like Shaw Floors to bring quality, affordable products to our customers that have a reduced environmental footprint,” says Ron Jarvis, The Home Depot's vice president of environmental innovation. “Working together, Shaw has helped us buy more green product and also green the product we buy.”
“We're honored to be recognized by The Home Depot for our efforts to create a better future for our customers, associates and communities,” Farris said.
