Home Depot opens Bronx, N.Y., store
Home Depot opened a new store in the Bronx, N.Y., on April 23, and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the company said.
The store, which is located at the Gateway Center at Bronx Terminal Market, is one of five stores Home Depot plans to open in the United States in 2009.
The 115,000-sq.-ft. Bronx store includes updated appliance, bath, hardware, lighting and storage and organization displays, as well as a paint color solutions center, installation services, a tool rental center and professional contractor desk. Also featured is an urbanized garden department with extensive cleaning products, tropical live goods and more.
Events will be held throughout the grand opening weekend, including a Kids Worship, giveaways and the display of a Home Depot #20 NASCAR show car.
The Bronx Home Depot will give a $2,000 donation to the Bronx YMCA as part of its commitment to the community, Home Depot said. The store will employ about 200 people.
