Home Depot hiring 80,000

2/11/2020
The Home Depot said it will hire 80,000 associates as the retailer heads into its busiest season of the year.

Many of the part-time positions will be staffed in The Home Depot's garden center. The company is also hiring for overnight freight, merchandising and other customer service roles across store departments, as well as warehouse associates for its distribution centers.

According to The Home Depot, about 90% of the U.S. population lives within 10 miles from one of its stores. Job seekers can apply for both part-time and full-time positions. To assist new associates in getting up to speed quickly, the retailer said that it is providing innovative training programs and tools, including a gamified mobile app, e-learning, and on-the-job coaching.

"When you join The Home Depot, you're joining a winning team built on our core values and associate-centric culture," said Tim Hourigan, executive vice president of human resources. "More than 90 percent of our store leaders began their careers here as hourly associates, which is a testament to our commitment to growing the careers of our people."

The Home Depot is the world's largest home improvement retailer, with 2,291 retail stores in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, 10 Canadian provinces and Mexico. The company currently has more than 400,000 associates.

The company’s biggest rival, Lowe’s, has already launched a spring hiring blitz and has promised to bring more than 53,000 new associates on board for full-time and part-time positions.
