Home Depot expands deal with Owens Corning
Owens Corning announced it has expanded its relationship with Home Depot through a new strategic insulation partnership. Starting January 2010, Pink Fiberglass insulation will be sold in more than 2,200 of Home Depot's stores.
"This partnership ensures that consumers and professional contractors will continue to find everything they need to do the job right at the Home Depot," said Craig Menear, executive VP merchandising, in a release.
"This strategic partnership allows us to bring together the combined brand power of Owens Corning and the Home Depot," said Tom Quigley, VP and general manager of Owens Corning's Insulation Business. "We are excited to expand our long-standing relationship with the Home Depot to provide Owens Corning insulation products that help make buildings more energy efficient,” he said.
Quigley pointed out that buildings consume 40% of the energy used in the United States and that insulation helps reduce energy use and the emissions of greenhouse gasses.
Lowe’s made a similar announcement last week when it signed a multi-year agreement with Johns Manville to become the exclusive building insulation provider to Lowe’s.
