Here are the job numbers
The latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows the national unemployment rate for June inched up slightly to 3.7%, compared to 3.6% in May. Still, the report was overall better than expected.
Construction employment continued to trend up in June, according to the report, up 21,000 -- a figure that is in line with its average monthly gain in the last 12 months. And total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 224,000 in June. This is higher than the average (172,000) so far this year, and slightly ahead of the average monthly gain (223,000) in 2018.
Employment in wholesale trade and retail trade showed little change over the month.
