HDI acquires Far West Plywood
Hardwoods Distribution Inc. (HDI), through its subsidiary Hardwoods Specialty Products US LP, has acquired Far West Plywood in deal valued at $3.6 million.
Far West is a single site wholesale distributor located in Northridge, Calif. with estimated annual sales of $12 million. The company distributes architectural building products to customers that fabricate end-products to commercial, industrial, retail, residential, and institutional construction markets.
The California distributor will now operate under the Hardwoods banner going forward, HDI said. Based in Langley, British Columbia, Canada, HDI distributes architectural grade building products to the residential and commercial construction markets
"The addition of Far West represents a contiguous expansion of our current Southern California operations and provides additional size and scale in an attractive growth market," said Rob Brown, HDI's president and CEO. "The transaction represents an appealing strategic fit of complimentary product lines with minimal customer overlap."
In the past eight years, HDI has made eight acquisitions while adding more than $565 million in annual sales.
“And our acquisitions pipeline remains active. We will continue to pursue additional transactions that complement our internal growth strategies," Brown said.
HDI operates a network of 62 distribution centers in North America operating under the Hardwoods Specialty Products, the Frank Paxton Lumber Company, and Rugby Architectural Building Products brands. HDI also operates one sawmill and kiln drying operation: Hardwoods of Michigan.
