HD Supply to purchase Orco

2/20/2018

HD Supply has entered into an agreement to purchase Orco Construction Supply, a distributor of specialty tools, fasteners and other construction materials. Headquartered in Livermore, Calif., Orco has eight locations in California, two in Arizona and one in North Las Vegas. The 52-year-old company also operates two rebar facilities.

Orco will be folded into HD Supply’s White Cap division, according to the announcement. No date was given for the close of the transaction, and no purchase price was disclosed.

Orco was founded in 1957 by an electric tool salesman whose family continued to hold an interest in the firm. The company grew through a number of acquisitions and partnerships, including a merger with Delta Construction in 1995.

Ranking 30th on the Home Channel News Pro Dealers Scoreboard, Orco operated 20 stores and reported sales of $227 million in 2007.

Orco's Hal Look, senior VP marketing and business development, is the 2008-2009 president of the Specialty Tools and Fasteners Distributors Association (STAFDA).

White Cap, a division of HD Supply, has locations in 26 states, including 35 units in California.
