A handful of industry players crack a Forbes list

The list of “America’s Largest Private Companies,” published by Forbes, includes a handful of familiar names to those in the hardware and building supply industry.

There are 233 companies on the list, and representing the home improvement industry are the following privately held players:

• Menards, ranked 37th with $8.7 billion in sales;

• Kohler, ranked 61st, with $6 billion in sales;

• ABC Supply, ranked 63rd, with $5.9 billion in sales;

• Guardian Building Products, ranked 67th with $5.6 billion in sales;

• Southwire, ranked 77th with $5.1 billion in sales;

• 84 Lumber, ranked 177th with $2.5 billion in sales;

• GAF, ranked 132nd, with $3.2 billion in sales;
