Hancock Lumber provides student tour
Hancock Lumber recently hosted students from the Fryeburg Academy.
During the visit, students toured Hancock’s Eastern White Pine operations in Casco, Maine. The tour was part of a three-week program aimed at giving students different perspectives of the local economy. Students also visited several community-based operations including an energy plant, recycling center and water treatment facility.
Hancock’s portion of the tour included demonstrating how raw materials are turned into finished boards, packaged and then shipped to customers.
Last year, another class from the Fryeburg Academy toured Hancock’s Ryefield sawmill. Located in Fryeburg, Maine, the academy is one of the oldest private boarding schools in the United States.
Based in Casco, Hancock Lumber operates 10 retail locations in Maine and New Hampshire. The company also operates three sawmill plants in Maine as well as three Home Again design centers.
