At Golden Hammer event, Beal to enter Hall of Fame
The Home Channel Hall of Fame will induct a new member in early May, as Orgill chairman, president and CEO Ron Beal joins the prestigious circle of industry leaders.
Beal will be inducted as part of the 2014 Golden Hammer Awards Ceremony slated for May 6 in Las Vegas during the National Hardware Show.
The event’s sponsors are HCN and the National Hardware Show.
The award is presented annually to an individual who has shown dedication to the home improvement industry throughout his or her career, who has a made a difference for the companies and people he’s worked for and with, and who represents the best of the industry.
Beal joined Orgill in 1985, and has been with the Memphis, Tenn.-based distributor of hardware and building materials during a period of significant growth. He was appointed president and CEO in January 2005. During his tenure with the company, Orgill made the transition from a mid-South regional wholesaler to a distributor on an international scale.
“It is a surprise to receive such an honor, which reflects the hard work of all the people I’ve worked with through the years at Orgill,” Beal said. “It’s a very humbling award when you consider all the great names in the Hall of Fame.”
Before joining Orgill, Beal was associated with the hardware division of Genuine Parts Company, including a role as president of Genuine Hardware Co., in Jacksonville, Fla.
In the Home Channel Hall of Fame, Beal joins recent honorees Ray Griffith (Ace Hardware) and Bob Taylor (Do it Best), as well as the founding members Bernie Marcus (Home Depot), Arthur Blank (Home Depot), Joe Hardy (84 Lumber) and Joe Orgill, who preceded Beal in the role of Orgill CEO.
The 2014 Golden Hammer Awards ceremony will take place May 6 at the LVH – Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, immediately adjacent to the Las Vegas Convention Center. Festivities begin poolside at 4:30 p.m.
