Founders of CCA Global Partners honored
Howard Brodsky and the late Alan Greenberg, the co-founders of CCA Global Partners, were inducted into the Cooperative Hall of Fame in Washington, D.C.
The ceremony, held at the National Press Club, honored Brodsky, the current chairman and CEO of CCA Global Partners, and Greenberg, who led CCA for more than 20 years before passing away in 2007.
Established by the National Cooperative Business Association in Washington, D.C., the Hall of Fame honors “genuinely heroic contributions to the cooperative idea, and the advancement of the principles of cooperation in the United States.” Past honorees include Benjamin Franklin for founding the Fireman Fund Insurance Cooperative and Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey for his outspoken political support of cooperatives.
The Cooperative Development Foundation praised Brodsky and Greenberg as “visionaries, leaders and teachers.” The company they founded in 1985 is now one of the largest cooperatives in the United States, with 15 independent businesses in four countries and over 3,800 locations that produce $10 billion in aggregate annual sales.
On the 2008 Home Channel NewsTop 500 Retail Scoreboard, CCA Global Partners ranked 4th, with 2007 sales of $10.05 billion and 3,000 stores. The company's business units include Flooring America, Carpet One Floor & Home and ProSource Wholesale Floorcoverings.
“I know Alan would agree that this award is a reflection of our outstanding team at CCA Global Partners who helped build our organization, and who keep us running day in, day out,” Brodsky said when accepting the honor.” The CCA story is one of passion, commitment, and belief that we can make a difference in the lives of family businesses.”
