Eldredge Lumber has expansion plans in Maine

8/7/2019
Eldredge Lumber and Hardware has expansion plans on the near horizon.

The York, Maine-based dealer is readying a new location in Sanford. The move would give the company its seventh location in the state.

Eldredge operates a flagship store and design center in York; Kittery Ace Hardware in Kittery; Eldredge Lumber and Hardware, a kitchen and bath design center and a Marvin Design Gallery in Portland; and Eldredge Bros Fly Shop in Cape Reddick.

According to Eldredge Lumber General Manager Dan Remmick, the new Stanford location will put the dealer closer to the action.

“We have a lot of customers in that area and it made sense to get closer to them,” Remmick told HBSDealer. “It’s a growing area and a good sized community.”

Eldredge already services the region out of its York and Portland locations. But the new location will place the dealer 30 minutes closer to many delivery sites.

The Sanford location is a former welding supply store and is “set up nicely” for retail, according to Remmick. The dealer plans on making numerous renovations to  the 11,000-square-foot building, including expanding the structure by nearly 4,000 square feet.

The construction of a 20,800-square-foot warehouse and three, 6,600-square-foot pole barn storage sheds are also planned.

Remmick says the new location should be fully operational by early 2020, if not sooner.

Founded in 1937, Eldredge also serves points in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
